Jewish Currents welcomes literary submissions from writers at all stages of their careers. We are currently accepting submissions in the following categories:
- Creative nonfiction, including essays and memoir (7,500 words maximum)
- Fiction (1,500 – 7,500 words)
- Flash fiction (under 1,500 words)
- Poetry (submit up to four poems at a time in a single document)
All literary work must be submitted via Submittable, including creative nonfiction, which we rarely accept solely from the pitch. We do not accept more than one submission at a time from a single contributor. Though we may infrequently publish excerpts from published work, we prefer previously unpublished manuscripts. Please allow at least 12 weeks for a response.
Jewish Currents welcomes visual art and comics from contributors at all stages of their careers.
All visual work must be submitted via Submittable.
Visual artists must attach a brief artist statement (one page or less) and up to 10 images. We recommend including a separate page detailing file name, title, year, medium, and dimensions for all attached images.
Graphic novelists are not required to attach an artist statement, and may choose to submit only one piece for consideration. Though we may infrequently publish excerpts from published graphic novels, we prefer previously unpublished work.
Please allow at least 12 weeks for a response.
